Audiobook coming soon!

I am proud to announce that have partnered with an amazing professional voice actor by the name of Ian Sorensen to produce an audiobook version of “Dry Land.”

It’s an exciting process, and relatively simple, actually. Wanna know how I did it? Here’s how.

I signed up at a site run by Amazon.com called ACX, short for Audiobook Creation Exchange.

How it worked is that I, as the author, uploaded an audition script, along with details about the book, about the voice I was looking for to read the book, and what the overall tone and theme and idea of the story was, along with a link to the actual book.

I then sat back and waited. And waited, and waited, until auditions came in. I got four of them (one from a wonderful young lady who I thought was adorable, but really couldn’t pull of a thirty five year old Englishman, but that’s another story). I listened to each one, and chose mister perfect English accent and like ten other accents too Ian Sorensen — but only after jumping around the room screaming from the excitement over how awesome his voice and acting was. Literally. I screamed my head off I was so excited.

Anyway.

I then contacted Ian through ACX and made an “offer.” The offer can either be monetary or it can be a cut of the proceeds from the audiobook. Again, ACX makes that process very very easy peasy.

I, again, jumped around the room screaming when Ian graciously accepted my offer. 🙂

A few weeks later I got the first fifteen minutes of the book, and after a few comments I approved it.

And now we’re working on the entire book. Hopefully, it will be out by the end of May if not sooner. I’ve always loved reading books through audio, listening to the dulcet tones of my favorite readers through the speakers of my car. It’s how I read most of the Harry Potter books… or I should say Jim Dale read them to me.

I am really looking forward to the completion of this project, and I hope all of you are, too.
